Dear Council:
Sushma told me that 8 people responded to the poll. I hope that more of you will consider joining us on May 8-9.
In spite of my usual optimism, I cannot help feeling anxious about the future of graduate studies in Louisiana. Two public universities in the State are in financial trouble (well, two have been forced to go public), the Governor has instituted a hiring freeze, and the current posture of the Trump administration is sure to have negative impacts on international enrollments. I understand there is not much we can do about any of this but I am eager to hear your thoughts ... which may be best expressed in person rather than by email.
Best regards,
Ramu

Subject: [EXT] [La-cgs] LCGS meeting venue change
Dear All,
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the annual 2025 LCGS Meeting in Monroe is being moved to the Louisiana Tech Academic Success Center, 6946 US-79 (also called East Texas Street), Bossier City, LA 71111. Many, many thanks to Ramu for helping find an alternate venue at this late date.
To minimize the cost associated with the meeting we will begin our meeting after lunch on May 8, 2025 and end before lunch on May 9, 2025. There will be coffee and snacks available during the meeting. Thursday evening dinner will be on our own.
Hotel information will be included in my next mail.
Regards,
Sushma
