<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">In spite of my usual optimism, I cannot help feeling anxious about the future of graduate studies in Louisiana. Two public universities in the State are in financial trouble (well, two have been forced to
go public), the Governor has instituted a hiring freeze, and the current posture of the Trump administration is sure to have negative impacts on international enrollments. I understand there is not much we can do about any of this but I am eager to hear your
thoughts … which may be best expressed in person rather than by email.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
