Nancy,
Here's the LSUS policy:
Applicants with a degree from outside the United States must present authorized records -
transcripts, mark-sheets, certification of degrees - showing a bachelor's degree or its equivalent with a GPA equivalent to B or better (3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale) on all undergraduate work from colleges and universities accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency. All foreign credentials must be submitted in English to the Office of Admissions and Records using a member organization of one of the following two national associations of credential evaluation services:
* National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) [www.naces.org]<http://www.naces.org/>
* Association of International Credentials Evaluators (AICE) [www.aice-eval.org<http://www.aice-eval.org/>]
Foreign medical graduates may submit evaluations from:
* Federation Credentials Verification Service [www.fsmb.org/licensure.fcvs]<http://www.fsmb.org/licensure.fcvs>
* Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates [www.ecfmg.org<http://www.ecfmg.org/>]
A course-by-course evaluation is required. Additional information concerning the evaluation process and the associated fees can be obtained online from the evaluation service provider's website.
We leave it up to the student to select the agency.

Nancy:
Thank you for this resource. I am attaching a document from Mary Farmer (November 2022) that lists many (all?) of the service providers you listed. I am also attaching our procedure for in-house GPA calculation and the revised admission standards (revised by the UL System).
Answer to your question: We do use the GPA calculated by the Scholaro website as the basis for admission decisions but with occasional exceptions as allowed by the ULS policy.
Sushma: We have not been admitting applicants with three-year degrees unless they are from one of the Bologna Process signatory countries ... and we don't get many of those. In fact, I cannot think of even one since 2020.
Best regards,
Ramu

Colleagues,
Please see the conversation which I started with Sushma but has implications across the board. I know several campuses perform in house evaluations of non-US transcripts but for those of us who were hoping to switch to the lower cost general evaluation from the course by course evaluation, this is an issue. For those who do this internally, do you manually calculate the GPA equivalent and apply your standard admissions requirements?
Attached is some research my office conducted on the NACES services who provide a GPA with a general evaluation. I welcome all thoughts and suggestions!

Hi Nancy,
We were asking the same question here as well since we use WES for all our international transcripts. They (WES) always says that a 3 year degree that awards a bachelors degree in other countries is not equivalent to a 4 year degree here. I think this is a great question and would be a good idea to discuss with all.
Regards,
Sushma

Sushma,
Hope you are well and the spring has started off smoothly. We have updated our international admissions requirements to eliminate the course by course requirement for evaluation since we are just looking for the bachelor's degree equivalency with the new admissions standards. It does not appear that the WES general evaluation includes a GPA (only the course by course one does). How do you handle that for admissions standards?
