[La-cgs] Screening researchers

Dear All,
Attached is a draft policy that we have put together at LSUHSC-New Orleans, and an overview slide. It still needs some finalization.
In the Graduate School, we plan to screen applicants to PhD programs and MS research programs with a thesis at the time they are selected for an interview. A form and online database has been constructed to capture the relevant information, and a standing committee will further evaluate any applicants of potential concern. We're still working out the details for the review and approval procedures, but have the form and database created that will be used by the students and relevant faculty/post-docs/staff personnel.

Best - Angela

Dear all,

Tulane's Human Resources department has started the process for us. Attached is the PowerPoint they're using to explain things to folks.

Best,
Mike

Jason:

Thanks for bringing this up. We have not had any discussions about this yet but I am eager to learn how others are coping. It seems to me that our new hires for Fall 2023 do not need to be screened, which is a relief. Research staff and postdocs would be another matter. I am not usually in the loop on those hires, especially postdocs.

Best regards,
Ramu

Hello all,
You probably heard that the law requiring that we screen all applicants to research positions for connections to adversary countries passed the legislature. Have any of you started putting together procedures on how to comply?
Thanks,
