Hi Nancy,

The current procedure at LSUS is to grant a waiver of the tuition when the GA form is processed.  No separate payments are made - the account balance is simply reduced by the amount of the tuition.  .  I am guessing the same procedure will be followed when the fee waiver goes into effect in 2024.

We have four categories of GAs - Teaching Asst, Research Asst, Service Asst,  & GA - No tuition Waiver.  The first three will get the waiver.

All,

We have begun conversations about the impact and procedure for implementing the attached legislation and would appreciate comments from other graduate programs.  Some specific questions which have come up:

  *   Will you expand this to other categories of graduate assistants not mentioned in the legislation (i.e. professional assistants)?
  *   Will you include course/lab/differential fees?
  *   Will these be processed as a payment (aka part of the financial aid package) or a waiver?
