[La-cgs] LCGS Meeting - April 30 / Update/3MT

Just checking back in. Are we still on for meeting this week?

In anticipation that we are, I am reaching out to see if there are any additional 3MT participants. At present, I have heard only from Sanjay at LSU-S and Ramu at LA Tech. If you plan to have students participate, please find attached the CSGS 3MT rules that were used this year. We will follow the same guidelines so that previously recorded presentations can be used.

Additionally, if you have individuals from the community who you'd like to suggest as a judge, please let me know.

Sanjay, could you confirm the start time for the 3MT competition so that judges can be confirmed?

Also, do you mind if we use our Zoom login for the competition? I realize that it may mean that we have to switch meeting invites, but I'd like Philip to be ready to go with the setup.

Hi all,



After much deliberation your Exec Comm (Greg, Mary, Ramu, Sanjay) has decided that it is best to postpone an in-person meeting to the fall.  Greg has graciously extended his offer to host us on his campus at that time.  Instead, we can still have a virtual meeting like we had last fall.  We are thinking of a 3-hour Zoom meeting on Friday, April 30th. tentatively set from 9 am to 12 pm.



Naturally, we cannot fit in all of our original agenda in three hours.  We do, however, want to hold the 3MT competition.  Please let Mary (mary.farmer-kaiser at lousiana.edu<mailto:mary.farmer-kaiser at lousiana.edu>) know if your campus will be competing and how many students (maximum two) will be competing.   Please respond right away if you can.



With regard to the other agenda items, we can at most accommodate 4 items in four 30-minute blocks.  Please take a look at the original agenda (attached) and suggest what we should include for April 30.

Please mark your calendars for the next meeting of the Louisiana Council of Graduate Schools – April 29 & 30 – on the campus of Northwestern State University.  In the past, we have started with lunch on Thursday and end by noon on Friday.  There will be arrangements for those who would rather attend virtually.  Over the next several weeks we can finalize the format and agenda.  In the meantime, please save the dates.
