Hello everyone,
I am also not sure how SUBR would handle this type of transcript.

CAUTION: This email originated from outside of SUBR. Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links from unknown senders.

They are accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities which a US DOE institutional level accreditor BUT we would also struggle with this type of a transcript. Definitely not giving any transfer credit. If the program is amenable, I would suggest a non-degree admission and then reevaluate for program admission after nine hours of graduate work completed with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

I reached out to our graduate admission specialist, and this is her response:

For these, if the school truly did not have a traditional four point grading system (some programs are like this, such as the flexpath options that are out now, which only use examinations and no GPAs), then we would recognize their degree if the school is accredited; however, we would not be able to issue any academic credit, nor GPA. I see this a lot with students applying to MSN who obtained BSN this way. If this is the ONLY undergrad work they have, then I have to decline their application and advise that we require XX academic GPA for program entry. Nursing agrees with this, but if other departments did not, they may be able to work something into their criteria to allow some kind of flexibility here.

You don't often get email from john.boulahanis at selu.edu. Learn why this is important<https://aka.ms/LearnAboutSenderIdentification>
Hi Sushma!

This is not an accreditation body we would accept. I don't think the school is SASCOC equivalent.

Hope this helps!
John

Dear All,

Have you seen academic transcripts from Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA? The College is accredited by Northwest Association of Colleges and Schools.

We are looking at a transcript right now that is 20 pages long and has no grades. The instructor's name is included, along with the course title and the number of credits for the class. There is a page for each course taken with a written assessment by the instructor. Some notes are a paragraph long and others are a page or two in length. Comments include a course description, the strengths of the student, and what they could have done differently. There are also quotes from the student's writing assignments.

The concept is very cool but does not fit in with the traditional grading scales that we use to assess candidates. How do you your Graduate Schools handle such transcripts and assign a GPA to a transcript?

Regards,
Sushma
