Ramu-

The way I am looking at it is that there are three different populations here.

1) The ones pursuing a grad certificate - They are considered as degree seeking and need to meet admissions criteria. They are not automatically coded as "conditional".

2) Non- degree students - Those who are at ULM for a short while to take some courses (6 hours) in a specific major. Our system blocks their enrollment after 6 hours. They are regularly admitted

3) Those in Continuing Education- Courses of interest to the community. These are not handled by the grad school. This population is not considered as degree seeking and have to apply to the grad school for admission.

Regards,
Sushma

ULM CAUTION! This email was sent from an external sender. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.

When someone wants to take a course for credit outside a regular program, they are admitted as a "special status" student. They need written permission from the course director involved, submit an application (to get them into the system), and pay tuition.

Dear Council members:

At Louisiana Tech, a student pursuing a graduate certificate or someone who is simply taking a course (we call it “Life Long Learning”) are admitted as “Conditional” by default. Are we required to do that? I don’t see any policy in the UL System that applies to graduate certificate admissions/academic standing. Please let me know what policy/policies you have in these cases. Thank you.

Best regards,

Ramu
