[La-cgs] Graduate Student Admission for students with past failing grades

We just go by overall GPA if they have a graduate GPA and require a 3.0 for full admission. If there’s a low grade from another institution but the overall GPA meets the minimum, they are admissible. No course with a grade below a B would be transferred and applied to a UNO degree. If they don’t meet the overall GPA minimum, they could be admitted conditionally if the department strongly advocates for them.

Hi Eddie,
At LSUS, students with a grade below C in prior graduate work are automatically denied admission in line with stated admission policy in the catalog. They are informed that they can appeal the decision to the program director and college dean. The college then send a recommendation to the graduate dean makes the final decision. The appeal procedure is also in the catalog :
Appeal: Any student not meeting these criteria but having a 2.00-2.49 undergraduate GPA on a 4.0 scale may appeal through the appropriate Graduate Program Director and Dean for admission. An appeal must include a letter of appeal and a professional résumé. GMAT/GRE scores or letters of recommendation may be requested. Recommendations will be submitted to the Graduate Dean for final approval. Non-degree-seeking students are not eligible to appeal.
Hope that helps!

To All:
Hope all is well and I am hoping you can help me with an issue. We have policies in place here at McNeese for admitting students on probationary status and also readmitting students that have been suspended for failing a graduate class or low GPA. What we do not have is a policy for admitting students who have failed a graduate course at another university and then want to come to McNeese. Do any of you have a written policy for this and/or how do you deal with this situation? I know it can be a case by case basis, but do you have any requirements for the process?
Thanks,
Eddie
