Good afternoon all,
Thank you, Mary, for sharing the progress report on the Transcripts issue. I support the small group strategy to discuss and prepare a draft policy for further discussion.
Have a restful and safe weekend,
Ashe

Subject: [La-cgs] Updates on transcript and 3MT topics

Good morning, all.
As promised, I spoke yesterday with Jeannine Kahn with the UL System about the transcript proposal and the idea of bringing the 3MT statewide competition to the next UL System meeting.
On the transcripts, she said we should move forward and get a proposed policy drafted along with a justification. She appreciated our concerns about the timing this request alongside the various concerns about transfer student transcripts, but agrees that we should put forth a good argument and a revised policy that the UL System grad deans agree upon. Perhaps we can gather a small ad hoc group UL System folks to meet soon by Zoom to mockup a revised policy and justification? Once we have that drafted, we could then bring it to the group by email. What do you think? Sushma and Nancy, I know that you both have been doing a good bit of research on this topic too. Shall we take the lead? Anyone else?
On the 3MT, she wants to talk with Jim and a few others at the System office but her initial response was absolutely. That is good! Next year, the UL System Conference is set for February in NOLA. I think that could work really well. I've requested dates and will follow up with her again in mid-April after Jim is back in the office. (He is headed to France with the Reginald F. Lewis Scholars Program students.)
All in all, I'd say this is good news and, especially on the transcript question, better than we expected!
Have a great weekend.
Mary
