[La-cgs] LCGS Spring Meeting - March 23/24 - Call for Agenda Items

Thanks to Jason for mentioning Act 464. It has not been on my radar but I
will look at it now.

I think it may be good for us to compare notes on Act 664 (SB 76) which
requires mandatory fees to be included in the compensation package for GTAs,
GRAs and "Graduate Curatorial Assistants." We talked about this during the
Zoom meeting, so this could be a review and status update. The provisions
don't go into effect until August of 2024, so there is a bit of breathing
room, I guess.

The other one that worries me a lot (but nobody else at Tech seems worried)
is Act 767 (SB 473) which goes into effect July 1, 2023. The BoR has sent a
form for reporting foreign donations (as required by the bill), but it is
the requirements on hiring (and the implied monitoring requirements) that
cause me the most worry. I am attaching an analysis of the Act, with some
highlights.

I don't know if we should seek out an expert to come and talk to us about
the implications of the various higher-ed bills from the Regular Session of
2022. I don't know who that expert might be. Carrie Robison came to talk to
us in our last meeting at UL Lafayette about endowed scholarships (at Mary's
invitation, I believe) and that was very useful.

LA Act 464 policies are a big focus for us right now. We are also starting
to formalize our response to students who are at risk of suicide.

bit.  It is time to kick off our discussion on possible agenda items for our
March meeting at ULL .  As the CSGS meeting in Tampa would have just
concluded, we can certainly have an update on that.  Please think about

about, or something that you would like to share with the group.

Mary has graciously agreed to host our Spring meeting at ULL.  Here are the
two options we agreed to consider at the end of our virtual meeting:

*	March 16/17 [Start at 12 pm on Thursday with lunch and end at 12 pm
on Friday]

*	March 23/24 [Same time as above]
