[La-cgs] question about cost of student health insurance

Hi Carol,

According to our Dean of Students, LSUS does not offer student health insurance. When LSU signed the agreement with Gallagher (2016), we participated for a brief time. However, few students signed up as the details of the plan were not beneficial for our student population.

International students are required to have basic coverage and the Registrar's office connects them with several options. It is then the student's responsibility to contact them and get the coverage.

I look forward to seeing everyone on April 30!

My question is about the cost of student health insurance.  Setting aside whether your University pays a portion or not, what is the cost of the plan, is that cost a per semester or per AY or per CY, and who is the provider? For instance, the cost at LSU is about $2800 per AY (summer is extra) and the provider is Gallagher (underwritten by United Healthcare Insurance). And yes this is a hot topic at LSU, particularly for our international students.
