Thank you, Carol! We can certainly discuss this under item 3a from my original tentative agenda for Oct 31 below:

1.       Intro and member updates

We have quite a few new members - so, it would we be good to put a face to a name so to speak.  It would also be helpful if we share how our respective campuses are dealing with the COVID situation, especially as it relates to graduate issues.  For example, how is everyone handling thesis defense?

2.       State-level 3 MT competition

a.       Should we have it at our meeting in April?

b.        Virtual 3MT best practices

3.       Preliminary plan for April meeting at Northwestern

a.       Format, preliminary agenda

b.       Staff participation

Everyone:  Will 10 am work for everyone for our Zoom meeting on Friday, October 30th?  Also, please give your suggestions/edits for the above agenda by Thursday, Oct 20th.  The all-powerful executive committee will then finalize the agenda. :)

Hi Sushma,

Thanks for the suggestion!  Ramu and I attended Mary's CSGS session on holding virtual 3MTs.   It was very informative - perhaps a short discussion on that could be helpful for our members.  So, thus far, what I have is as follows:

1.       Intro and member updates

I suppose the above would fit well into a 60-90 minute session, but we could add or subtract as needed.

Everyone: Please chime in with your opinions and suggestions.  We would also need volunteers to be discussion leaders for the individual segments.

If I remember right, we were to bring our staff members to this meeting. Perhaps we could discuss specific ways in which we can involve them in future meetings.

Hi all,

Based on your responses, it appears that many will be unable to travel at this time for our Fall meeting.  The executive committee (Mary, Ramu, Greg*, Sanjay) discussed the situation and concluded that it is best to postpone the regular meeting to April 2021.  Hopefully, the travel situation will have improved by then.

In the interim, we are proposing a virtual discussion session (60 to 90 minutes) on Friday, October 30th.   Please feel free to make suggestion for the format and content of this virtual session either to this list or to one of the committee members.
