SENT ON BEHALF OF DEAN CHRIS MARTIN
Dear Faculty,
Tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan. 24) at 10 a.m. is the Marbury Ethics Lecture
featuring award-winning documentarian Gregory Kallenberg. Gregory will
screen three short documentaries from his series Rational Middle: Net Zero,
and there will be a small reception in the lobby following the lecture.
For those of you with 10 a.m. classes, I am asking you to attend in COB 101
or watch from your classroom. The link is provided below and there should be
a Mediasite shortcut on the desktop in your classroom. Your students will
have the opportunity to text in questions during the lecture. If you do not
have a class during the lecture time, please encourage your students to
attend and find time in the coming days to discuss these issues with your
classes.
This is a unique opportunity for our students and faculty to learn more
about environmental social governance (ESG) issues that are transforming the
business landscape with a global push to preserve the environment. ESG and
doing business with purpose is an important piece of the education we
provide our students and is a growing part of AACSB standards. This
particular docuseries focuses on the attainment of net zero and the role
businesses play in achieving this critical goal. This is an important
discussions for our students to participate in and is relevant to every
discipline in our College.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Chris

Subject: Important: Winter Syllabus / Ethics Lecture
SENT ON BEHALF OF DEAN CHRIS MARTIN
Dear Faculty,
Before you put the finishing touches on your Winter syllabus, please note
that the 16th annual William Ardis Marbury Jr. and Virginia Lomax Marbury
Lecture Series will take place on Tuesday, January 24, at 10 a.m. This year,
award winning documentarian Gregory Kallenberg will screen his docuseries
Rational Middle: Net Zero. The series focuses on what it will take to reach
net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, contextualizing the current state of
energy and energy consumption, and its effect on our environment, our
communities, and our livelihoods.
Discussion will focus on the roles business, policy, and private investment
play; the economic and market implications to achieve net zero; and what
happens to communities and economies (like ours) built on fossil fuels that
are being phased out.
While ALL faculty and students are encouraged to attend, I ask that ALL 10
a.m. classes on January 24 convene for the screening so that your students
(across all business disciplines) can become active participants in the
discussion. Please adjust your syllabi accordingly.
If you would like to view the Net Zero official trailer, I have provided a

Have a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving Break!
