[Coes-bogard-labs-l] Cleaning/Decluttering Bogard Labs

Good morning, everyone,

I know it is the summer, but as we prepare for the upcoming ABET visit, we need to make every effort to assure that laboratory spaces are clean, organized, and ready before the start of the fall quarter.  The dean’s office will support this through our student workers, who are cleaning a lot of spaces in Bogard Hall.  If you need help, please let me know, and I will help facilitate this.  In the meantime, please consider the following as needed:

  *   Remove unused equipment, materials, and unnecessary clutter.
  *   Organize cabinets, storage areas, and workspaces.
  *   Properly label and store all chemicals and hazardous materials.
  *   Dispose of waste and unwanted materials according to established safety procedures.
  *   Ensure floors, aisles, exits, and emergency equipment remain clear and accessible.
  *   Address any housekeeping or maintenance issues that affect the appearance or safe operation of the laboratory.

These are the same standards we strive to maintain throughout the year, and the ABET visit provides a good opportunity to ensure our labs reflect those expectations.

To support this effort, a committee will begin conducting inspections of Bogard Hall laboratories every two weeks during the academic year. These inspections are intended to help us maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory spaces on an ongoing basis.

Please have your laboratory inspection ready before faculty return for the fall quarter.

If you need assistance with surplus equipment, hazardous waste disposal, or other cleanup needs, please let me know as soon as possible so we can help.
