GA positions are awarded based on the availability of funds. If the budget is spent in Fall, then the ones that come in Winter and Spring do not get funded. Colleges/departments usually provide tuition for GTAs (who teach classes or labs) but not GAs (who
provide grading or other services). Of course, there is no policy against GA's receiving tuition scholarships -- we just don't have enough money.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
